css & xhtml
This project was an interesting one, since the objective was to find a table–based non–standards compliant site and convert it to standards compliant mode.
I took this one step further and made it a "table–free" site with semantic mark–up, XHTML and CSS.
the need
It was truly "no problem" to find a site that was not standards compliant.
the fix
Since I was taught to design using XHTML and CSS, I am much more comfortable setting up my layouts in this manner, rather than with the old style of bloated HTML coding.
The original site was nicely designed, but the coding needed "tweaking". To see the original site please go to The Muskoka Wildlife Centre. The new site was designed to have cross–browser capabilities, as well.
Upon uploading my site recently, I noticed that the original site has been modified since I completed this project. I will soon modify the top navigation bar on my site to accomodate these changes and further illustrate the coding transformation.
