css & xhtml
Another project I completed at Georgian College, required me to design a site for my hometown, Peterborough.
the need
While researching , I stumbled upon the then current City of Peterborough website. Now, suffice it to say that, at the time, the site looked like it had not been updated in quite some time (and was done in frames). So, I began …
the fix
I went to work on the design, using XHTML and CSS, validating as I went. I made the text brief and to the point. I "bolded" text to make it easy to skim. I added tons of links to other local sites.
And…when all was said and done, I found I was suddenly proud. Proud of XHTML. Proud of CSS. Proud of the W3C Validator. And proud that this beautiful city I had depicted in my website was my hometown. My hometown.
Since then, the City of Peterborough has updated their existing site to a much more visually appealing site with simple, user friendly navigation. My hat goes off to them … check it out here.
